Carl Horton
Implant Surgeon
Carl is a passionate advocate for patient-centred care and has dedicated his career to advancing dental practice and education on a global scale. Since graduating from Birmingham Dental Hospital in 1996, Carl has worked primarily in private general practice, where his commitment to excellence led him to pursue MSc degrees in both Periodontology and Implantology.
Carl is widely respected for his innovative research and has lectured internationally on advanced treatment models, with speaking engagements in cities including San Francisco, Gothenburg, and Athens. Alongside his clinical work, he has played a significant role in shaping the next generation of dentists – training foundation stage practitioners at Birmingham University and delivering postgraduate lectures focused on restorative and clinical techniques.
As Co-Director of the West Midlands MSc VSSA in Dental Implantology, Carl continues to mentor and support clinicians seeking to deepen their expertise in implant dentistry. He also serves as an Education Lead for VSSA and lectures part-time at UCLan University.
Outside of dentistry, Carl is a dedicated triathlete and recently completed an Ironman. He also coaches both youth and adult athletes, combining his love for sport with his commitment to personal development and community engagement.
